At Prince Court Medical Centre, we are committed to providing the most appropriate and highest quality of care to patients with cardiovascular disease. We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions in a highly integrated and multi-disciplinary practice.

Cardiac Investigative Procedures:

There is a wide variety of investigations available, invasive and non-invasive to determine whether one has a heart disease, type of disease and severity if present in order for the cardiologist to determine the most appropriate treatment. These include:

Non-invasive diagnostic investigations:

  • Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
  • Ambulatory Holter electrocardiogram monitoring
  • Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging
  • Chest X-ray
  • Duplex vascular ultrasound
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG)
  • Event arrhythmia recorder
  • Transthoracic echocardiography (2D & 3D, doppler)
  • Transoesophageal echocardiogram
  • Treadmill & pharmacological stress echocardiogram
  • Treadmill exercise stress testing
  • Multi-Slice Computer Tomography (MSCT)
  • Nuclear stress/rest perfusion scans
  • Tilt-table test
  • Treadmill stress test

Invasive cardiology

Interventional cardiology involves treating patients with a range of conditions involving the heart vessels (coronary arteries) or structures of the heart (e.g. holes in heart, valve disease). The interventional cardiology treatment is carried out in the state-of-the art invasive cardiovascular laboratories, equipped with advanced technology such as biplane flat detectors to provide accurate diagnosis and reduce the radiation exposure and contrast (dye) usage on the patients. Furthermore, the cardiovascular laboratories also equipped with the latest ambient mood-light facility to ensure maximal comfort and safety to the patients. The cardiac catheterisation laboratory is in operation 24/7 around the clock with all personnel including the cardiologist, nurses, technician and radiographer on stand-by, to ensure that any emergent patients with acute heart attack can be admitted directly to the centre for acute angioplasty and stenting to unblock the coronary artery. Evidence-based studies have repeatedly shown that this method of treatment is the best for acute heart attack patient leading to a better short and long term clinical outcomes compared with those who are given medicines to dissolve the clot in the coronary arteries.

Interventional procedures:

  • Diagnostic coronary and bypass graft angiography
  • 24/7 acute primary angioplasty for heart attack patients
  • Diagnostic right and left heart cardiac catheterisation
  • Diagnostic carotid, renal and peripheral angiograms
  • Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators (ICD) implantation
  • Intraaortic balloon counterpulsation
  • Intravascular ultrasound imaging
  • Intracoronary physiological pressure wire measurement (FFR)
  • Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) –drug-eluting and antibody-coated stent implantation, plain balloon and drug-coated balloon angioplasty
  • Percutaneous device closure of Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Patent Foramen Ovale
  • Percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty of Mitral, Aortic and Pulmonary valves
  • Permanent single chamber, dual-chamber and biventricular pacemaker implantations
  • Temporary pacemaker implantation
